The Gazelle Street Comfort range are our best selling, classic and most distinctive Dutch type. In their basic format they are based on a design that has been around for most of the last century - working examples of 'if it ain't broken don't fix it.'

These bikes have the most upright riding position of all the Gazelles. The combination of fully swept back and upright handlebars, a long wheelbase, 'lazy' angles in the frame geometry, fat tyres and big wheels make them a delight to ride - very good over cobblestones which is a real benefit to those of us who live in historic cities! Especially loved by Yorkies, they have a really solid feel to them, and despite their weight, glide along like a dream.

These are great workhorse utility bikes. Great for shorter trips such as shopping, commuting, child carrying and all round personal transport. They are designed to be used daily and can really take the knocks. Their relaxed geometry make them very stable load carriers compared with most bikes. Carry a child, or two large panniers full of shopping and you will appreciate the difference. What makes them stable on the flat also makes such a relaxed geometry bike unsuitable for hills. If you live in a hilly area you might be better off with a 'Street Sports' or a Gazelle hybrid.

Gazelle Primeur 7 speed 2012 men's

The Primeur is the absolute classic Dutch roadster, but equipped to a very contemporary specification. It has a steel frame, which although heavier than aluminium, makes for a more comfortable ride. It is our belief that steel is more durable in the long run and therefore more suitable for this kind of bike.

Day to day riders love their Primeurs for the robust steel mudguards and stainless steel handlebars and wheels. Heavy duty racks and thicker gauge spokes on the rear wheel means you can carry just about anything (including your sweetheart) on the back of this bike! These racks are also impressive in that they can carry a childseat AND panniers - pretty much unique, in our experience.

Other features to note are the fully automatic lights: a front wheel hub dynamo with a front standlight and rear battery light. It is available with a Shimano Nexus 3 speed (£539.99) or 7speed (£629.99) with hub brakes although we only keep the the 7 speed as a stock item. The lady's model Primeur features an elegant 'loop' frame which gives a low standover height. Also, note that is it available in larger sizes in both men's and women's for Dutch giants including the Behemoth gent's 70cm.

Axa frame locks

All Gazelles have a frame lock fitted at the rear of the bike, which immobilises the rear wheel at the flick of a lever. This means that an opportunist thief will have to carry your pride and joy away. If you use it in conjunction with a good D-lock, you have great security.

The lock always comes with 2 keys - if you lose them or damage them, all is not lost. We have outlined all you need to know here.
